02.2024 Phius Alliance NY - Passive House Construction Tour
Our three Certified Passive House Consultants, Danielle, Phil, and Mike were apart of the construction site tour of PUSH Buffalo’s West Side Homes multifamily housing building. The building is Buffalo’s first Passive House as well as a NYSERDA Buildings of Excellence competition winner.
Attendees included the construction team, Buffalo- and Rochester-based architects, real estate developers and students from UB Buffalo. 14 people in attendance had Passive House certifications. The building is all-electric with ground source heat pumps. Each unit has its own mechanical room and tour leaders helped attendees dive deep into thermal bridging challenges.
03.2024 AIA Buffalo/WNY Green Building Tour at Miller Residence
We are extending a big thank you to all that joined our AIA Buffalo/WNY tour of our Miller Residence Project. It was a fantastic turnout with some familiar and some new faces.
A special thanks to the University at Buffalo School of Architecture and Planning students for attending and to our very own Phil for giving an in-depth tour about the design process and project details on this modern-Scandinavian beauty.
05.2024 East Aurora High School Intern - Erie 2 BOCES Construction Technology Program
Our team has had the great opportunity to work daily with our current East Aurora High School Intern, Ryan, for the month of may. She has is currently enrolled in the BOCES Construction Technology Program with plans to major in interior design and minor in architecture during her college career.
05.2024 'Choose Your Renovation'
‘Choose Your Own Renovation’ is a YouTube series where you, the viewer, will choose how the design and renovate the home on the corner of Girard Ave here in East Aurora, NY. Hosted by Licensed Real Estate Salesperson with Gurney Becker & Bourne Christopher Welch, the weekly series allows the community to vote on design items throughout the design process. Crafted Concepts is the architect on record to assist in architectural documentation of the process as the local community helps to essentially design the home renovation.
06.2023 East Aurora Music Fest
With being located in the heart of East Aurora on Main Street, the Crafted Concepts team loves to be apart of the festivities during the Music Fest. Stop by the lot behind our office next year to say hello in-between listening to the 50 bands, 100 hours of music and 250 musicians as we rock for charity to benefit our local non-profit organizations.
07.2023 IIDA Buffalo City Center - Community Interior Renovation
The International Interior Design Association (IIDA) Buffalo City Center had the honor of working with Compass House, a local shelter and resource center for homeless and runaway youth in WNY. The staff and guests at Compass House do such honorable work within our community day in and day out by providing a safe space for those they serve. Years of focusing on the clients left some of their spaces in need of updating, so we provided a well-deserved interior transformation to two of their gathering areas.
Local designers and contractors, including Crafted Concepts’ Rebecca Williams, volunteered time across three weeks to scrape, paint, replace flooring and ceilings, as well as reupholster some existing furniture to liven up the spaces. New furniture, including proper donation storage and comfortable seating while potentially uncomfortable conversations occur was provided to fulfill the facilities needs. As interior designers, the aesthetic of a space is what commonly informs our design decisions, most of the renovation was centered on providing a brighter, more durable space so that it better supports the organization’s core values of dignity, respect, and self-reliance for years to come! All funds for materials, furnishings and time was generously donated through sponsorships, proudly including Crafted Concepts.
11.2023 AIA Buffalo/WNY Design Awards
This year we were proud to be part of the AIA Holiday Food Drive. Overall, 2,805 lbs. of food and $500 were collected from local Architecture firms. FeedMore WNY was very excited and impressed by the donation. Thank you to Young + Wright Architectural for coordinating the drive.
